Losing for a cause

Hello everyone! Nice to meet you all. I've had this app for a few months now and have been up and down on the scale, now it's time to get serious.
I left University in Brighton, UK about a year ago now and in the 3 years I was there I lost a wonderful 4-5 stone (due to simply walking everywhere! Brighton is hilly). Since coming back home, I have become less active which has resulted in about 3 stone creeping back on.
When I was slimmer it felt great because though I'm a confident and out going person, I fail a bit in the body confidence department. So I want to get back or at least close to where I was.
The problem I find with dieting and weight loss is how hard it can be when you do it by yourself.
So what's making me get serious? A quick back story, last year in May I was diagnosed with Chronic Myeloid Leukaemia. All of my family and friends have been incredibly supportive and it's been really amazing.
Since being diagnosed, reading about research, put on medication etc, my dad (a huge gym-aphobe) has found inspiration and wants to raise money for Leukaemia & Lymphoma Research by losing 2 stone in 4 months.
And I, of course, am joining him not just for his support, but also for my own. I have also made a vow not to drink alcohol until he has reached his target.
It's been a (positive) week so far, just need to keep it up and I'm really looking forward to the results in 4 months.
So hello everyone!
