i have a question

So im kinda new to this whole diet thing. I mean ive wante to diet for along time, but never found anything that really works. Anyways ive heard lots of diffrent roumors and such about loosing weight. someone told me that in order to loose weight and make any progress you have to burn off all of the calaories you take in that day. or your just going to stay the same. I'd really like to know if thats a true fact. Becuase i dont really have the time to excersise constantly like that. i mean i ussusally do maybe30 to 45 minutes of zumba a day. but thats not close to burning off every calorie i take in through out the day, even though im eating pretty helthy

please let me know :) it would be appricated.

  • Im definately no expert and I just started myself but I dont think your supposed to burn them all off. I walk 30 min everyday and it tells me Ive burned off 165 calories per day. You burn off some thru normal activity. Everything Ive read says you have to burn 3500 calories above what you normally burn to loose one pound of fat. Agh! Reading that almost makes my plight seem hopeless! lol Good luck!

Not sure it's a fact. If it is then I've been proving it wrong. I've been eating my limit (sometimes over, sometimes under) and exercising but I have never burned all the calories I've eaten. The only time I've come close to that I've made myself sick, light headed, and very tired.

The only thing I know as fact is that different things work for different people. Things that help in general are eating things that aren't highly processed, lowering sodium, upping water intake, and moving.

Good luck, oh and do some searches on this site and throughout the Internet for some information. There are a lot of differing opinions - especially about how one should eat, how often, and whether or not to eat your exercise calories.

To lose weight you do need to burn more calories than you take in, but not all of them. However you can do that by finding out your bmr (basic medibalic rate *don't judge my possible misspelling*) and then subtracting 500 from that and consuming that amount in calories.

That is definitely not true. Your body needs energy (in the form of calories) in order to function and perform normal body functions. Your body uses these calories to transport blood, digest food, everything that needs to be done uses calories. If you burned off the thousands of calories you took in through food, your body would have nothing left in order to perform these basic functions. Your body will burn those calories naturally; don't try and rid yourself of them by over exercising or under-eating, it isn't healthy.
