calories vs fat grams

I went over yesterday on my fat intake by 17 grams, and my sodium by 682....but I was under by by 520 on my calories. What happens if you go over on your fat, but not on your calories?

You will still lose weight with low calories even if a lot of your calories are fat. Too much fat means there is room for improvement in the types of foods you're eating, but only total calories matter for weight loss.

You can still lose weight, but over time consistantly being over on saturated fat can lead to high cholesterol.
  • You should really watch your sodium, that fat i'd not be OVERLY worried about (though there are easy ways to alter that to make it work in your life) but too much sodium can cause you to retain more water weight.

but it doesn't inhibit fat loss.

    Nothing happens.

Fat, carbs and proteins are only important in relation to each other. You're shooting for a total calorie count on a daily basis made up of fat/carb/protein. Keeping fat down is a good idea because its high in calories and if you eat alot of it you'll hit your calorie totals without getting enough other nutrients. But the same could be said of protein.

Balance is the best approach. Tomorrow's another day. :)
