Afraid You Will Get Too Big if You Lift?

No, no, no, no!! As those of us who lift seriously know full well, no one ever gets big by accident. There is no day that you walk into the gym and pick up one too many weights and suddenly start bulking up. Building serious muscle is a conscience effort that takes lots of work.
If you could get big that easy, everyone would be able to be in competition.
Now.... ladies..... lift those weights!!! :glasses:

Because of the lower testosterone levels of women, you'd need to compensate for that by eating a larger amount of calories. So its actually very difficult for women to sustain muscular growth over an extended period of time and requires lots of lifting and calories combined. There's more to it but its not as easy as some who are misinformed believe.0

Yes, which is why it is so NOT something to worry about when in a calorie deficit!0 -
Building muscle is so difficult.
If only one could lift a few weights and make massive gains.0 -

I am not afraid that I will bulk up with weights, although I do think that my body is more likely to build muscle than lean out. What I'm wondering about is which exercises? Theres a plethora of weight training exercises out there. I don't know which ones to do? I don't go the gym and I don't have a personal trainer so....I just lift 5 pound weights in my own creative ways!!! And do push ups of course.0

There's lots of things you can do at home. Definitely pushups, as you said. Using handweights, you can do triceps and biceps in a number of ways. You can do dips up against a bench or counter. Squats with or without added weight - just make sure your knees don't go over your toes and you can gently sit (squat) onto a chair and lightly tap it and back up. I would recommend that you just google search some at home exercises and you can put together a plan for yourself. Best to do some form of strength training 2-3 days a week. And make sure to do abs but I would guess you are already.0
