Shoulder problem

I had been doing the 30DS quite religiously until day 3 of Level 2. I have a LOT of extra weight but I have been pushing through the program and doing pretty good for as much weight as I have on me.
Well, after day 3, I thought things were fine. I went to sleep and when I woke up the next day my neck and shoulder were pretty sore. I know I slept wrong which caused the neck pain, but the shoulder still feels... odd. I held off on the Shred for the past couple of days and my shoulder pain is almost gone, but I have a weird feeling in it when I move it.
When I try to lift my arm up, it feels like it needs to pop. It feels like it is catching and I have to extend my arm a different way to not feel the tension and slight pain. I can't pick up anything heavy or I get that feeling as well. I can't even pick up my Brita water pitcher out of the fridge with my left arm.
I can't tell if it feels like it needs to pop or if it feels like it is trying to dislocate. I tried icing it off and on the past 2 days but it's not helping and still feels like it's catching on something and I get that awful feeling that I need to crack/pop it! I had been doing a lot of plank moves and push ups lately, after being very stationary and non-athletic for many many years.
Should I be concerned? Will this heal on it's own or should I see my doctor about it? I am hoping it's just a strain or something minor because I would really like to get back on track with the 30DS and working on upper body again. I know very little (obviously) about injuries from exercise so any advice would be great. Thanks!

I'm having exactly the same problem (almost the exact same process of waking up with a bad neck and shoulder and then having the shoulder pain remain when the neck got better). It limits my range of motion and when I try to do a pull-up, I can't because there would a sharp pain in the shoulder mid-way up. It's been there for about two months with no real signs of improving.
I had rested it and it did get better. I managed to get some ROM back but when I did a round of Kettlebell one-arm snatch, the shoulder was impacted again. Thinking back, it might have been that exercise that caused it in the first place.
I, too would like to know what this is and whether it's something serious since it seems to get better when I just don't use it.0 -
Go see whoever you prefer out of a chiro, physiotherapist or physical therapist. The shoulder is very complex joint, and not one you really want to mess with.0
