hungry at 8pm

Hi quite new to MFP and love using it. Just wondering if anyone can help me with ideas to help stop or a good treat for when I get the munchies at 8pm. Been really struggling with it at this time of night and want to get through it with out ruining a good day

I think a small protein treat if you need something! If you crave sweets and are replacing ice cream (like me) give Greek yogurt a try! Just refrain from bindging and blowing a good day!

Maybe a small spoonful of peanut butter for that extra protein? Or just brush your teeth-- that doesn't always work for everyone but I find if I'm starting to get hungry for snacks at night, I will brush my teeth and rinse with mouthwash and chew a piece of minty gum and I won't want to snack.

Can you save calories by eating slightly less calories before 8pm so that when 8pm rolls around you have calories left for a meal or a large snack?

If it can fit into your cals then eat something at 8, for months and months i was obsessed that i couldn't eat after 6pm but come to realise it doesnt make any difference when i eat.

Your body doesn't say '' oh, well its 8pm now so ill just store all this food as fat'' lol

hubby and I routinely will snack on crackers with laughing cow and olives, or a handful of cashews, etc after the kids go to bed. As long as it fits into my calories and macros, I go for it....doesn't seem to have slowed ME down any.

Healthy snacks for YOU depends on what your meal plan looks like. Are you just trying to cut calories, or are you on low carb or something like that? If you are just trying to cut calories, what about a single serve bag of popcorn?

we also like the klondike 100 calorie ice cream treats. They are just the right size to satisfy the craving without being too much.

why are you scared to eat? it's not like your body says oh hey 8pm time to stop working!

eat dinner later, or break it into 2 meals.

If I'm still hungry at night I eat cashews. I've seen other people say they do a protein shake but I can't drink liquids late at night or I will wake up in the middle of the night to go to the bathroom. lol
