So I am currently in week 4 of my change of life style for the healthier me. I choose to eat right, portion my food and work out every day which I even joined the gym. I even do dance cardio and zumba during the week as well. My thing is I lost 10lbs a week or 2 ago and its like ill gain about 2lbs here and then loose it but Im not loosing anymore than the 10 I have lost. Is there a certain amount of time till I will really start loosing? Idk I dont want to get discouraged and then give up, I still want to be healthy but I want to see results!!

I am by no means a fitness expert but my advice to you would be to start playing around at this point. You know the basics of needing to eat right and excercise but you might need to find the actual groove that works for you.

When I started out trying to be a healthier me the initial weight just came off but it was because I decided to give up full calorie soda, I started working out everyday, and watch my portions. My body adjusted quickly to this and then slowed WAY down. I started to think I was never going to drop anymore weight and started to feel really defeated BUT then I started playing around with how I was doing things.

At first I was eating under my calories everyday and doing heavy cardio and then one day I was so sore from the cardio I just took a walk. Fast paced but just a walk. I also ate over my calories alloted on here and within a few days the weight started to move again.

My point in all of this is that what works for some doesn't work for others. Play around and find out what your body really responds to. Don't give up because you are worth the fight!

Do you take measurements? I haven't seen any real difference on the scale, but I measure and weigh weekly. In the last couple of weeks I've put on an lb, but have lost an inch from all my measurements except my stomach, which is down 2.5.

So losing 10 lb in 4 weeks isn't success? I'm confused. Weight loss isn't linear. Some weeks you'll lose and other weeks you won't. Sometimes you'll gain water weight because of fluctuations in your cycle or changing up your routine, or even perhaps getting too much salt/not enough water. I highly recommend using something besides just the scale to track progress. Take pictures, take measurements, pay attention to how your clothes fit, are you getting stronger or have more endurance, how is your resting heart rate, track your BF %.

Also make sure you eating enough for your new workouts.

Your situation does makes sense though. I am aware that everyone's bodies are different but I think I def will play around or stick with this another month and if I dont see a change I'll put your advice in plan and try different things out. thank you!

Cherlynn: thats the thing the inches arent coming off, maybe I just have to keep at it and see if they do. All my clothes fit the same so I do know that I havent lost inches. Good luck on your journey and thank you for taking the time out to respond.

LadyAce2078: Your right about the success of 10lbs. I guess my thing was I've always been able to loose that amount but struggle loosing more. But you really did make a point bc even though I dont see much of a difference in weight or inches, I have felt a difference in the endurance of working out. I last longer on te eliptical than when I started and I can last through a whole hour of either Zumba or Dance Cardio with out stopping. I will take your advice with taking pictures. How do I track my Body Fat? Good luck on your journey and thank you for taking the time out to respond.

Deevtude: What is BMR? or tdee? Please help. lol

Caraiselite: you really think its carbs? What would you suggest how much carbs i should intake?

Keep the focus and pride yourself on your success...it will be what keeps you going! As for BF%, I use a BF device that measures it. You can also take measurements and find a calculator online. In either case it's more the direction it's moving that you want to worry about, more than the absolute number (there is error in any method).

    Every word of this.

If you're doing all the right things and not seeing results, you're not looking for the results in the right places. It might not always be on the scale, so be sure to track your progress by measurements, how clothes fit, photos and your fitness level.

Be patient, you are only 4 weeks into this. It's also hard to give advice when your diary is closed. Make healthy choices, measure everything, get a scale if you don't have one, exercise and drink water.Eat up to your calorie goal, MFP has already created you a deficit based on the activity level you have chosen, so eat back those calories. Log everything, every day and I promise change will come.
