Yes I am Fat... No I am not Lazy!
Options
I hate that stereotypical attitude that fat people are so lazy they deserve to be fat.
To be honest, I haven't exercised in about 3 weeks aside from on the weekends... I work 3 jobs, and try to manage time with friends and family, and clean my house and take care of my pets. Does that make me 'lazy' I don't think so, I'm one of the busiest people that I know.
Now could I have still chosen to get up earlier and go to the gym and only run off of 4 or 5 hrs of sleep... Sure, Could I have not worked 3 jobs... Yeah I can pay my bills without it, Could I have not spent any time with friends or family except on the weekend? Yep I could have done that too...
I was the one that made the decision to put work and friends, and what little sleep I do get above working out. (and for years cooking right too). No one else is responsible, I made the priorities I've made and now my body shows the consequences... but I am NOT lazy and hate that stereotype!

Go you, I personally struggle to manage on 6 hours or less, and if I got less there is not way I would have the energy to exercise.
Im struggling at the moment as I only got 6.5 hours last night.
3 jobs will of course keep you busy, but your here and doing something about it, shows you know your choices got you here but you have the drive to do something about it0 -
The answer is and always will be, eat healthy food, exercise regularly. Even skinny people are lazy, but they don't get judged as much, this is just the nature of the world we live in...0

I think we make time for what is important to us - and set our priorities accordingly -- obviously, exercising isn't that important to you at this point. Just as it isn't to lazy people. everyone has different priorities. I don't automatically think fat people are lazy. I was fat and I was not lazy. I was working a lot and felt I didn't have time to exercise. Funny though. when I reprioritized, somehow I've managed to fit exercise in 7days a week.0

has anyone actually said you are lazy though? just wondering.....0

Threads like these bother me. Did someone actually come up to you and say you're lazy? Or are you simply assuming that's what they think, because it's really what you think?
I never give an honest opinion on these because I don't want to deal with the drama that is sure to follow.0 -

Yeah all the time... No they didn't pull me aside and tell me that I personally was lazy. But I've been told multiple times to my face that the only way someone could be overweight is because they were lazy... well... I'm obviously overweight so how would you take that? These comments are also generally coming from people in their 20s-30's still living with their parents, not having any bills to pay and only working 20 hrs a week. Yeah If I only worked 20 hrs a week I would be at the gym 6 days a week too.
Now is that THEIR fault that I'm overweight? No... It's mine. I take responsibility for that. That automatic assumption though just irritates me.0 -
Actually some so called 'fat' people might be more hard working individuals than the bikini girl or ripped dude. The problem is often that those hard working individuals don't work this hard (or don't find time to) on their own body and diet which is their most valuable property they have and care of.0

Maybe they're not saying you're lazy in life, but lazy to yourself.0 -

That's my point... did I work hard on my body? No... that's why it is not in great shape... does that mean I don't work hard? no absolutely not... a lot of the overweight people I know got that way because they were just soooo busy with other things that their health got put to the side... not because they were sitting on their butts watching TV eating chocolate all day living off of a government check... Now are we responsible for the priorities we have made and how we look? yep we are. But I've even heard a lot of companies won't hire fat people because they think they are just lazy in everything, when generally it seems they actually work so much, it becomes the priority and exercising and cooking healthy meals is not the priority.0
