Question for Treadmill Owners

For those of you that own a treadmill without a weight adjustment on calories counted, do you trust the calories counted on the treadmill or do you adjust them based on MFP's exercise counter?

The issue for me is that I tend to switch around speeds and incline all the time, so it's virtually impossible to count it on MFP because there's nothing that really says what I'm doing.

When my girlfriend (who is also a member of this site) walks on the treadmill at the same speed, and then checks the difference of what MFP would say vs. what the treadmill does say, MFP has her burning a ton more calories. She walked 60 minutes at 3.0 and MFP said she burned close to 400, yet the treadmill said she burned less than 300.

Just curious as to what you guys think, or if others have come up with this issue.

I just use what the TM says for however many calories I've burned.

As for when I do different speeds/inclines etc. I just go in and log in my own exercise. Unless I run or walk outside at a certain pace I pretty much go by what the machine says I do and log the cardio workout myself.

I work out a lot like you I think - I'm up, down, fast, slow. It all depends on how I feel at any particular moment. What I've been doing is carving it up - essentially, estimating for how long I do each thing and then putting it into MFP in pieces (10 mins walking up hill, 5 mins at 5.0, etc.).

I've actually gotten pretty close readings between the treadmill and MFP calculations doing it this way. I have a Lifespan TR40001 if that helps.

I post what my treadmill says I burned. MFP count seems to be lots higher than what my machine says.
