do you find that GOOD socks make all the difference for avid runners/walkers?

I just bought a new pair of excellent running shoes (same kind as last time and I love them! they help my feet soooo much) .. but certain pressure points are hurting in my feet ... Im wearing thinner socks so I wonder if that's the issue ...

Im going tonight to buy these awesome Nike ones I tried on when I bought the shoes ... hoping that changes things!

Socks make a big difference. Cotton is rotten. Get some good, synthetic running socks.

What kind of sneakers did you get? I'm looking into buying a new pair cause I have great ones for walking and biking but for running-I get pain not even 20 minutes in. I hadn't even thought of it being sock related a bit too, I'll have to grab some new socks as well

Go to a specialty running store and get fitted. The right shoes for the OP might be the totally wrong shoe for you. They will analyze your gait and suggest shoes that are best for the way you run.

I love Brooks but I really recomend you go to a store like Fleet Feet that will fit you for the right shoe for your stride, etc.

socks, def. synthetic but I like the ones that give a little support in the arch also.

I totally agree about getting fitted for proper running shoes. I did that and found a brand and style that work best for me and now I buy them online (usually from roadrunnersports.com).

As for socks, I like thin, very low socks, personally. I have some Wright socks that I love. I have actually been lucky to find some really good "name brand" socks at TJ Maxx.

I bought the Asics Gel GT2170 - I had the 1170 last year but these were on sale and are essentially the same shoe (but higher end)

I love this shoe, but I also need the extra arch support this offers (it's got a grey band on the outside of the shoe inside where your arch is and that's the extra support) - it keeps your foot from turning in ..

Thorlo is a great brand. They're very thick and cushy. I wear them when I run and LOVE them.
