This is my first exercise video and all I ever do for exercise is mowing, swimming, and walking. So I have no upper body strengths. I've heard that you should use a 3 lb weight but can i start with a 1 lbs?

The problem is, I don't want to spend $4 on 1 lb weights them move on to a larger weight, it would be a waste of money. And I don't like the whole filling a water bottle with sand or water because it wouldn't be comfortable for me to hold.

Ok I guess I'll buy both. So there's no need for this subject.

Anyone else want to join me in the 30 day shred too? hahahahah

I started with 5lbs. The first day was really rough and I couldn't do all of the Arm moves toward the end. But by the thrid day, I was lifting them no problem. I would start with 3 lbs. You get your strength up really quick with that DVD

You could just try it first with no weights, then with a couple of tins and build up from there. See how it goes. No need to rush to spend money on weights until you have a better idea of what you might want to be lifting.
