Building Muscle and Lossing Fat

I recently read an article that said that this impossible thing could be done with simply eating 500 calories over your maintenance half of the days and 500 below your maintenance the other days. This seems to not ring true to me. I believe the thinking behind it is that on the eat more days you will build muscle and on the eat less days you will lose fat, however I don't believe that your body can switch modes that quickly. What are your guys thoughts?

Kinda sounds like Martin Berkaman of Leangains. Is that who wrote the article? This can be done but is a long and tedious way to do it and best for those who are just trying to lose the last few % of body fat. It is much more time efficient for most of us to do bulk and cutting cycles if gaining more lean muscle tissue is the goal.0
