I built a lot of muscle on this program. You need either weights or bands to do the exercises. They also have a "thigh toner"--a band (used normally for physical therapy I think) that goes around your ankles to help whittle away your hips and thighs. Other than that, there is nothing else required.

Can you get away with not using the thigh toner band? I am borrowing a friend's dvd to see if it is a program that I would like to do.

You can do it without the thigh toner. They show several modifications to the exercises depending on your level of fitness or equipment.

I am finishing this program in a week! I am very happy with it. I have muscle definition in my arms now and before my upper arms were just all one blob. So far I have lost about 15 lbs and over 10 inches. I will know my final results next week!
You do need weights or you can use a resistance band. You don't need to use the thigh toner. In fact for the first month or so I didn't use it because I couldn't get through the exercises if I did. There is someone in the video using a resistance band and someone using modifications/lighter weights! Hope this helps!
It was worth every penny and I love Chalene Johnson. Going to do her TurboFire next!

I hit my lowest weight in years using that program. I did add in a little extra cardio here and there. I dropped inches like crazy.

I will be completing this program this week, yes I have seen awesome results, you will need some form of resistance such as dumb bells or the resistance bands (I personally hated them and almost gave up in the beginning until I bought some weights, but this was only my experience others love them). You will need a sturdy chair in the very last phase and if you choose the purple thigh toner band which is supplied for you.

I loved this program and am sure I will do it again in the future. Good luck and have fun!!

You need either dumbbells or resistance bands. Recommend dumbbells because some of the exercises they have you doing feel awkward and unnatural when done with bands and don't necessarily hit the same muscle groups. You need pretty heavy dumbbells. Much heavier than anything you've used for Jillian programs, if that's what you have. You need enough to make you fail in 10-12 reps. During phase 2 it's 6-8 reps. Thigh toner band is optional but recommended. I didn't use it because it made doing many of the exercises unsafe for me as it threw off my footing.

Glad you posted this question because I had wondered the same thing about this program. Glad to hear of the results/success of the posts above. Thinking I will give it a go!

Agreed. I tried the program myself with bands and quit a little over a week into it because the exercises were just TOO awkward with bands and I felt like they were stressing my joints more than they were my muscles.

EDIT: IMO programs that simply use bands as a substitute for dumbbells aren't utilizing them correctly. If you're trying to use them as a substitute for DBs, youre better off with DBs.

I loved it so much I did it twice! Second time I combined it with Turbo Fire. Great results!!

I have select-tech weights that go from 5-25 lbs. By the end of round 2 I was at 25 for most of the exercises, and 25 felt light for all the lower body ones.

You will need a lot more than that... I do mean a lot...

For a lot of exercises you'll be using upwards of 20 lbs, specifically lower body focused ones.

Agree with the others - you need pretty heavy weights, especially for Push phase.

    I have 5, 8, 10, 12, 15, 20 and 30. I don't use the 30s much (only when it's JUST legs), but I get a lot of use out of the 15 and 20. There are a few exercises where I would use a 25 if I had one.

You can probably do the first week with 8/10 lb weights, to see if you like the program, but to get the true benefit, you need something heavier for sure.

It depends on your strength. Chalene tells you how to create resistance if you don't have heavy weights. I don't have 12's and some exercises 10 is to light but 15 is too heavy so I just create more resistance with the 10's!
I am in lean and I definitely can't go as heavy as in push. You are working both lower and upper body at the same time!
