very confused with my measurements.

I measured myself on June 25th :
Abdomen: 51.5"
Chest: 51.5"
Hips: 61"
Thighs: 31"
I measured myself on July 10th :
Abdomen: 53"
Chest: 50"
Hips: 58"
Thighs: 29.6"
I lost everywhere but my abdomen?
I am so confused as how I could PUT ON an inch and a half!
It is TOM - would that affect it ?
Ahhh! This frustrates me!
Lost 11 pounds, 5.9" lost - but 1.5" gained where I DONT WANT IT.
This is heart breaking.

You most likely didn't measure in exactly the same spot. TOM sure doesn't help either.0
-
I do measure the same spot though!
I make sure of that - for abdomen I do directly around my belly button so I know that one was the same for sure.0 -

^^^This - that's a pretty dramatic difference, though and if you're losing consistently everywhere else I'd attribute to TOM... my pants are usually snug then0 -
That happens to me sometimes, if I measure myself and I've drank milk or alot of water that day my stomach is significantly bigger. try measuring it tomorrow right when you wake up?0
-
Its TOM! I guarantee by next week you will see a significant change! Drink lots of water and keep your eye on the prize!0

Sounds like measuring error. Being slightly up or down, having the tape slightly angled, etc. would account for the difference. I don't see how it would be possible to lose fat from the rest of your body but gain it in your midsection.
Here's a way to reduce some of your measurement error: Measure the same spot multiple times (say 5X -- but the more you measure, the more likely you reduce your error), completely removing the tape from your body and repositioning it each time. Record each measurement and then take the average. Should help.0 -
I would say it could vary in the height around your back resulting in measurement error, but did you have a big meal? I mean abdomen is kind of directly effected off what you JUST ate or drank0
-
It could very well be TOM--I get a lot of bloating the first few days. Measure again when it's done and see what the tape says then.0

If 1.5 inches during TOM is "heart breaking", I wouldn't want to see your reaction to a true tragedy.
Measure again a week after your friend has left.0 -

That first sentence Is extremely rude in my opinion.
I don't think it was necessary to say that.0 -

I agree with this.. also you have to make sure posture is the same too. If you slouch you can measure more than you want.0 -
I would refrain from measuring or weighing in on your period. Your body is functioning differently than it would normally. Also, you should do it in the morning before breakfast. I would ignore those completely and measure yourself next week. Everything other than the abdomen looks great tho. Good luck, please try not to stress so much.0

try measuring at your navel and at your 'real' waist.0
-
Some people hold on to weight/inches in different areas. Give it some time. It will eventually get smaller.0
-
Sounds like TOM bloating.0
-
I'd say definitely bloating from TOM. At the gym, they always ask first. If it's TOM, they don't do measurements... they say come back next week for the measurements.0
-
Perhaps just different amount of food in process?
If you are doing a lot of crunches, make sure you hold your abs in tight so they dont pooch out.0 -

I can say from experience that I have to measure at the same time of day, because I will get a food baby after eating even a little bit. I like to measure as I'm getting ready for bed...my results have been pretty consistent. Also, I don't measure at my navel, but a little higher. I lean my ribs and shoulders to each side while leaving my hips in place, and make sure the tape measure hits right where I bend. This is how seamstresses and bridal salons measure my size for dresses, so that's what I'm going with. Hope this helps!!0

Chin up! You are doing just fine! Likely TOM is to blame, BUT... in my experience, things do change significantly as you lose ( I feel like I was losing 'top-down' for quite a while). I started out at 295-301 pounds. Some of my upper abdomen (just below my chest) seemed to 'deflate' during the first 30 pounds or so..and it certainly appeared that some loose skin 'settled' toward my midsection more.. perhaps that has happened to you? After losing 63 pounds I've lost 10 from my chest, 8 from my waist and 11 from my hips.. my waist is definitely slowest.. grr but still, I'm going the right direction.. and you will too!0

I agree. Stop being so dramatic! Heartbreaking? Really. I can understand being disappointed but heartbreaking. Get a life, people have real problems that are heartbreaking. I looked back at your other posts, seems you have no life and are on here posting and obsessing 24/7. Lol I'd also like to see how you'd react to a real tragedy.
