Best Running Songs?

I have a few 5Ks coming up and I'm putting together some playlists. What are some of the best running songs?

Check out jog.fm for songs broken down by bpm or minutes/mile. I made my playlist off that site :)

eta: My favorite song on my playlist is Holding out for a hero by Bonnie Tyler :)
  • Honestly I might sound crazy when I say this but with preparing to inlist in the army I run to military cadences. Only to keep up with the beat and not go sprinting and get winded when I'm done

    Hey Ya - Outkast
    Whip It - Devo
Jungle Love - Morris Day and the Time
    Cars - Gary Newman

And for longer distances, more contemplative/meditative:

Little Wing - Stevie Ray Vaughn
    Jessica - Allman Bros.

Depends on your speed, but I'm currently running a 10 minute mile and I love

    Call Me - Blondie
    Stronger - Kelly Clarkston
One Way or Another - Blondie
Burn It to the Ground - Nickelback
    Run Around - Blue's Traveler
    Monkey Wrench - Foo Fighters
(You Can Still) Rock in America - Nigh Ranger

These all pretty much have the same BPM and they're pretty rocking, so they get me going.

    Amadou & Mariam- Batoman
Basement Jaxx & Lisa Kekaula- Good Luck
    Animal Collective- Summertime Clothes
Kanye West- The New Workout Plan
    Alex Clare- Up All Night
    Yeah Yeah Yeah's- Cheated Hearts
Violent Femmes- Blister in the Sun

Something I love to do (although it is time consuming) is to make copies of songs I like to run to and then shorten them to 1 minute lengths. That way you just get the best, most upbeat part of the song. I have a short attention span when I run so keeping my music changing helps with that.
