I could use some encouragement!

I'm not in a rush here, I'm not even too far out of my comfort zone. I'd been gaining weight slowly over a period of about 3 or 4 years and about a year ago I realized I was hitting what felt like an absolute limit for me. I was 168, pushing 170 and I did not want to hit the 170 mark. So I started exercising and learning about calories and being careful about portions and all that, and I did drop down to 161. Since then my motivation for watching the calories has waned, and I've been struggling to keep up with the exercise. I have managed to maintain this whole time though, staying within the 162-163 mark more or less. I'm happy that I've been maintaining, I'm happy that I seem to have figured out what's going wrong and stopped the runaway train..... but I need to psych myself up for another push.
Like I said, I'm really not in a rush. I don't need to lose it fast, I just need to adjust enough that I'm losing slow and steady instead of simply maintaining. I need to get myself into the frame of mind to make a genuine effort again.

keeping it up can be the hardest part! whenever you feel down, think abt all the progress you have made and how awesome that makes you feel. surround yourself with people who have the same goals. you got this!!0

what do you do for exercise right now?0

I had gotten myself into a pattern of 2 hour long aquafit classes per week, and a bit of yoga and weight lifting at home, but about 3 months ago I fell of the train after a 3 week trip, followed by the flu, followed by another week long trip which shook me out of the habit. I've been trying to get back in the habit for awhile now, and I have gotten back on one aquafit class per week. I also bought a new bike that I like riding a whole lot better than my old one, and I use that as my primary mode of transportation. I'd say 30 mins light to moderate biking at least 3 days per week. Sometimes just a 10 minute cruise to the grocery store, sometimes an hour or more total round trip out to the beach and back (and a swim too, of course) or something along those lines.
I've been frequenting these boards lately to get myself back into the frame of mind, and I have been getting back into it. I'm tempted to try C25K again, but last time my ankles couldn't handle it and it took weeks to get them to stop aching, so I'm a little apprehensive about jogging.
Thanks for your support!0 -

Hi honey!
You can add me if you like! I like to provide support and encouragement. I also like to harrass you when MFP tells me you haven't logged in... If that's not encouragement, then IDK what is!
Thanks,

You have to create the motivation. You have to choose to act. If you want it. GET IT.
If not, go stick you butt back on the couch with bonbons and beer.0 -
I just asked my sister to join and do this with me, having someone other than me holding me accountable for my actions and who offers judgment free encouragement is so helpful. Do you have any one you would feel comfortable doing that with?0

It is hard when we get off track to get back on again. you are riding your bike and doing the swimming( that is exercise.) Keep doing that, watch your calories and just maintain what you have lost so far. It is not good to loose weight fast so it is good that you are not in a hurry. remember this is a lifestyle change, not a diet.
Good luck to you. you have come this far so please don't give up now!!0 -
Feel free to add me!! I am new to MFP and my struggle has always been consistency with exercise!! I know how that is. I started a week and a half ago and I am exercising almost every day! I will do my best to support you and encourage you.
Hang in there! Like you said, you aren't in a hurry, you want to do this the right way...that is a HUGE step in the right direction.0 -
Unfortunately the last 10-15 seems to require some serious leveling up. less light to moderate and more moderate to vigorous with some nazi style planning with the nutrition.
I cant do it all the time, cause i get frustrated, so I do it about 15 days out of the month. The super strict balls to the wallness.0 -
You can do this! I say find at least one way to burn calories that is more "fun" and doesn't feel like work. Make sure you get your water in. Not to feel full, but I honestly feel like it makes your whole system work better. Add me if you want. I gave 100+ pounds to lose so I will be around here for a long time!!0
