Quad pain without explanation

I am trying to walk in the mornings for exercise. The past 2 1/2 days, though, my quads have been really sore. Anytime I try to sit or squat down, I get this ripping pain through my quads (left and right both). When I sit, it eventually goes away. If I sit too long (more than 5 minutes, I have trouble walking when I get up. Also, I had tried to take a muscle relaxer from when I hurt my back (back is acting up again because the quad pain makes be walk funny) and 2 extra strength tylenol but all it did was make me sleepy...no pain relief.
It doesn't make any sense. I haven't done anything out of the norm for me. No strenuous exercise, no change in routine, no change in diet...nothing! When do I say enough and go get checked by a doctor?
