1.Have faith that all your hard work will pay off if you don’t give up too soon.

2.Understand that you didn’t gain weight over night so you won’t lose weight over night

3. if you think you will over eat eat in front of a mirror

4.Avoid alcohol

6.hang your new too-small-clothes in the front of your closet where you can see them

7.Distraction - clean the house when you feel like binging, if you still live at home, your mum will be so
happy about you maybe she'll nagg you less at dinner time plus u'll be burning off cals

8.when you feel like junk food Chew sugar free gum or mints constantly. I am never without one or the other in my mouth. The benefits are endless: it kills cravings, keeps your mouth full so you can't binge, burns calories by chewing

9.Buy a pair of expensive jeans at least one size too small. Try them on right before you eat. You will either not want to eat or will eat less. When you lose enough weight to fit into them properly, reward yourself by buying another pair, again one or two sizes too small.

10.Don't eat in front of the telly that way you wouldnt see all them food ads

IMPORTANT PLEASE READ - When going out, take only the amount of money you'll need and nothing extra. That way you won't be tempted to spend it on food. OR GO GROCERY SHOPPING WHEN/IF YOU'RE HUNGRY.

11.In between each mouthful of food that you eat, take a sip of water. It fills you up and slows down your eating so that you stay in control and the meal doesnt turn into a flat-out binge.

12. Write a note to yourself listing all the reasons you are finally ready to lose weight. Keep this letter with you at all times, for inspiration.

13.Never eat anything bigger than your fist.

14.and never eat your childrens leftovers

please let me know if it helps as this will make me feel good being able to hellp you guys

I really like that note between numbers 10 and 11. I find that when I have money on me, I'm tempted to spend it on food.
  • Wise words - I am printing them out and putting on my refrigerator.

#3 is so frustrating, but true. I want the weight to just melt off and be gone forever, but I know it is a long term struggle that will likely last a long time... I wanted to say all my life... but it won't - it can't!!!!

I loved idea #6, I have so many cute clothes hiding in the back of my closet that I have abandoned as my weight ballooned out of control. Putting them up front will really push me to fit back in them again.

#8 is also a great idea. I recently started chewing gum and have been happy with the effect. I always crave sweets after eating, and gum has totally saved me! I will have to try sugar free mints too.

Idea #11 is really good too. I used to eat way too fast, and was full before I even realized it!! I am trying to eat slower now, and eating and sipping is a neat way to accomplish that.

They are all fantastic tips and ideas. It must have taken you some time to gather the information together. Thank you so much for taking the time and effort to share them with everyone!! :flowerforyou:

If you don't mind, I'd like to add one more . . . Cravings typically diminish after 10 minutes. So when you crave a particular food, but know you shouldn't eat it, try to defer gratification for 10 minutes. If you can ride out the 10 minutes, there is a very good chance it will pass.

It is true that really losing weight...the real weight takes time. It is frustrating to look and think it could take 1-2 years to get to your goal weight...but really, So what! It will be 2010 or 2011 anyway, so why not keep plugging away and greet those new years a bit smaller than you are today!

Now that I am a little more than half way through I am only losing about a pound per month, sometimes 2 but I really don't care. I am just moving forward.

    Stay the course!!!!:flowerforyou: :flowerforyou: :flowerforyou:
