Just wondering :)
The last time I leg pressed was about 5 years ago (I was 13)...I could leg press roughly 300 lbs. Idk what I could do now.

1000 x 10 x 3. But I get much more benefit squatting a third or so of that amount. People like the leg press because you can load it up with crazy plates, but most would do better to skip it completely and add 2 additional sets of squats to their workout and be done with it.

I can currently do 3 sets of 8 reps at 360. Though I'm pretty close to failing on the last few reps.

I like the leg press because it allows me to do high weights. I'm still too big to be do any kind of squats with major weight.

    1200 X 6 X 4 But I am 50 now, so I don't do it that often.

Usually 450 x 5 x 5. But I'd prefer to be able to squat better!

I don't use the leg press machine (the 45* sled type), as it inherently removes about 30% of the weight from your lift. I use a squat press machine by Cybex (which is 1:1...what's on there is what you're lifting), and am currently lifting 810x5, 720x6, and 630x7. That's after 3 warmup sets at 20%, 30%, and 40% of the initial working weight (in this case 810lbs)x5. This week I should be able to add another 50lbs I think.

Squats are inherently better, but there are occasionally reasons not to do them (I still recommend them in most scenarios). I have a strong core as it is (deadlifts, along with my work and the rest of my lifting program make sure of that), so the additional benefit of squats is sort of irrelevant to me. Also, when you start getting up into the higher weights, any slip in form can hurt you, badly. I am the sole support of my kids, and can't afford to be off work due to my recreational activities. It's just not worth the slight added benefit, which I cover elsewhere.

in high school I could do 1200....

20 years later and way way out of shape... I can now do 400# pretty much indefinately (had a contest with my 15 year old to see who could do the most reps... his comfort weight was 400 so we set it at that and he went until fatigued... which was 18 reps and he had to stop... I did 34 reps before he conceded defeat and I could have went much longer :) )

I don't do leg press often though because my weight routines are to help me with exercises I do frequently... we hike mountains often (apalacian trail) and I mountain bike... so I do squats on the smith machine... I do weighted lunges... and I do a lot of arm and back work...
