I'm fairly new and had my first weigh/measurement taking this morning after a week of keeping to 1200 cals and working out at the gym (weights and a little cardio plus some yoga/pilates)

The good news is I've lost 1.5kg! The bad news is I've lost hardly anything in inches. Usually I'd be over the moon with my weight loss but this time around I need inch loss to get into a wedding dress that I want. I lost 1/2 inch from my hips and 1/4 inch from my arms - everything else the same.

I've read posts on here from people who lose at least an inch everywhere in their first week - where am I going wrong?

Well you just said you lost 1/2 inch from your hips & a quarter inch from your arms so that alone is an accomplishment. You see our bodies are burning fat from our entire body & it takes time for you to notice the results but just be more patient. When you're doing something new, chances are that your muscles are retaining water to repair itself but taht is only temporary but eventually it will go away.

Lastly don't compare yourself with other people who are losing an inch on their first week. Everybody is different.
