Since Saturday I've had an awful pain in my left knee - it feels like I need to stretch, but I do it feels like its going to snap or 'give way' (if that makes sense?).

I did lots last week at the gym to afford my weekend - running and swimming most days, and an hour's Body Combat and Body Pump on two nights.

This is nearly a week I've not gone to the gym trying to stop the pain. Any ideas what it is or what I can do to sort it?

Thanks :)

I have the same exact problem(i think)...at first it felt like i just needed to pop my knee, then woke up the next day and now my knee is KILLING me....i attribute it to me being 110 pounds overweight and my body has finally lost the stregnth to carry on, plus i have a bit of a bone disease where my joints dislocate. I would go see dr if you can, perferably a sports dr since you are an active person and let them tell you what exercises you should do to help heal it

i have a patella of track in my knee and it hurts me every day so i cant excerise much but you should see your dr. i recommened laying down with your knee and feet raised, ice pack covered in a tea towel and if possible some ibruprofen as that will reduce swelling and of course rest, but do move it/walk on it as you dont want it to get stiff.

    Go to a Physiotherapists

^^^^^ This as your first step - and they will tell you if you need to go and see a dr - or orthopedic surgeon - but I would go to a physio first....

I had knee surgery in Feb, and am having a knee replacement done in early August and my physio has been much better at explaining the procedures - how to prepare, help with recovery and what to expect after surgery than my orthopedic surgeon.
  • I thought it was just a niggle that might go away, but probably not if its taking so long. I'll definitely get to a physio then :-)

    Thanks everyone :-)

I am always careful of joints. If you damage it your exercise days will be over pretty quickly. Physio best option
