At home light excercise?

Hello.
I have been having a bit of trouble with exercise lately.
Normally I do speed-walking in the woods (can't run because of knackered joints) and swimming in the river.
But lately it has been raining very hard, absolutely pissing down. Seriously, there are floods all over my country.
I mainly want to focus on light exercise (like walking and swimming) and not so much strength training, so I can first build up my fitness, before focusing on muscle building.
I live in the countryside, with no gym anywhere near me, so I can't go there either.
Does anyone know a good exercise, that I can do in my home?
The only thing I can come up with is walking up and down the stairs, but I think my neighbours may end up hating me for that. It's quite noisy.

You don't need to avoid strength training in order to lose body fat, in fact the best way to drop excess fat is to take on some form of resistance exercises. (edit: to elaborate; strength training will maintain your lean body mass as you lose excess weight, and help ensure it's just fat loss and not muscle loss you're seeing in the decrease in weight.)
You could start off with some simple callisthenics, such as shadow-boxing, lunges & squats (these raise your heart rate considerably), push ups, leg raises, any kind of knee-raises and kicks, or dancing around like a mad thing. Anything that uses your whole body in any range of motion will work... not just to increase your cardiovascular fitness, but also your core strength and thus balance & stability. You can choose low-impact exercises, so leave out the jumps and so forth if you feel you need to.
And because you're never using anything greater than your own bodyweight as a form of resistance, it's not overly intense for a beginner.0 -
