Daily calories and BMR

hi
i have seen quite a few posts mentioning the BMR so i decided to use an online calculator to check mine. It said that my BMR is about 1940 kcal.
when i joined MFP and put all my details in it said that my daily allowance for normal activity (as i understand it, this would be without any weight loss) is 2400 kcal.
so in order to lose 1.5lbs a week it calculated a deficit of 750kcal and an allowance of about 1600kcal, but based on the BRM this would only ge a 300 kcal deficit.
i am just a bit confused as to which should i go by. i have now changed it to lose 2lbs a week, this created a 1000kcal deficit from the MFP calculation and 500 from the BMR calculation..
hopefully i can lose weight like this....does it all make sense??

Your BMR is the calories your body will use just to function and remain alive while you do absolutely nothing (coma type state). Everything you do daily adds extra calories (showering, cleaning the house, walking from one room to another and so on) so that's where the system for 2400 cals from. That would be the amount of cals needed to maintain your current weight.
Don't worry what the deficit is from your BMR.... a lot of MFP members and various information found within the internet suggest not to NET below your BMR as eating too little can cause your metabolism to slow and thus your body needs less calories than normal.
Go with the original calculation you got from MFP. It gave you a 750 cal deficit from your TDEE (calories to maintain your weight) which is what you want.0
