I'm always feeling lethargic and exhausted (because of work) so I tend to skip out on the exercising I KNOW I should be doing. I mean, I walk about two or three times a week for an hour or more, but that's something I don't really consider hardcore working out, so I don't bother tracking it. Thus far, i've been consistently losing weight for the past month and a half but here is my question:
If I want to inventually start building muscle (once I hit my goal weight of 150), should I start lifting and cardio NOW or is it all right to wait until i've shed all those pounds and then start the heavy workout routines?

Bump!
I lost my first 20 pounds without any exercise whatsoever, but I'm afraid the next 20 will have to be with exercise, and like you...I'm LAZY0 -
You can lose weight through caloric restriction alone or in combination with a fitness program (typically exercise doesn't promote a great deal of additional weight loss as it's normal to experience increased appetite - you've got to put fuel in the tank)
This may sound counter intuitive but you may find that you feel more energetic if you start an exercise program sooner rather than later. There are considerable other health benefits to cardio and strength training above and beyond weight loss. IMO start today!0 -
I say start now. Muscle burns calories and revs up your metabolism, so why not?
I used to be lazy as well. I hated to exercise and would much rather sit around and do nothing. But I forced myself to work out. And I kept forcing myself. Then one day, I realized I suddenly liked it. I now exercise 5-7 days a week and I truly miss it if I have to skip a day. My energy level has also greatly increased and I don't WANT to sit around anymore. My body craves being active.
It doesn't take much. I'm not hard-core about it. I do a little circuit training, some intervals (walking/jogging), some strength training, and I get regular walks. I work out anywhere from 30 - 60 minutes, depending on how I'm feeling. If I'm watching TV, I'll get up during the commercials (or during the show if I'm feeling particularly ambitious) and do some squats or I'll grab my hand weights and work my arms. Every little bit helps.0
