My stomach was happy in Thailand

I have an interesting travel observation. I have had a bad stomach all of my life. My GERD completely went away when I quit dairy and things improved but I always had stomach aches / noisy stomach / etc.

I just spent two weeks on a peninsula in Thailand where I rock climbed for 9 days and ate healthy vegetarian and basic unprocessed food everyday. My stomach was in heaven!

Now that I am back home, my stomach has started hurting again. It is not stress, so I am wondering if the issue might be wheat (a lot of rice is used in Thailand) or processed foods. I am not a huge processed food eater, but do partake in soy cheese and soy meat.

I am going to conduct an experiment to cut out the processed soy products and see how that goes. It really was wonderful to work out hard and eat fresh veggies and meals made from scratch for nearly two weeks. I felt so healthy, and I want to maintain that eating style. Plus, Thai food is delicious!

Has anyone else's stomach taken a similar vacation while visiting outside of the US?

Yes-most Asian countries are great for my stomach--I do think it is the increase in veg and limitation of wheat. Even here I am limiting wheat and noticing big changes in how I feel.

    Sigh........I miss Thailand.

yeah all you can do is cut one thing out at a time and see what happens.

Might be worth getting yourself tested for food intolerances.
