AND I QUOTE
*Based on your total calories consumed for today, you are eating too few calories. Not only is it difficult to receive adequate nutrition at these calorie levels, but you could also be putting your body into starvation mode. Starvation mode lowers your metabolism and makes weight loss more difficult. We suggest increasing your calorie consumption to 1,200 calories per day minimum.
I happened to miss a few meals over the weekend and drink lemon water instead. I gained 2lbs by Monday ;(
Who says there is no such thing as starvation mode?! How do you explain what just happened to me. You might have a theory but my intuition is telling me that skipping meals and not obtaining 1200 is bad for my weight loss goals.
Fasting is for skinny people anyway who don't mind a calorie jump and want to cleanse....
As for me I am going to stick with snacking and 3 balanced meals a day........... so far it has been working. Fasting and not eating enough does not seem to be the answer and by golly maybe MFP is right.
What do you think?

I would love to try and just eat just 3 times a day, i feel for me eating 5-6 meals a day all i want to do is eat0

Hiya :-) i had that same message today after logging my food diary so i promptly went and ate some more then discovered I'd gone over my daily carbs recommendation, doh! only on day 2 of this so very early days and i guess i will learn to judge things before shovelling it in my face xxx0

Yes that is exactly what MFP tells you. I don't want to be in starvation mode so I eat0

Everyone is different. I have been steadily losing 1 pound a week eating 1000-1100 calories a day. I exercise 3 times a week, and I don't eat back my calories.0

You didn't gain 2 lbs. of fat unless you overate 7000 calories.
I agree fasting is no answer. But I don't think fasting or any 'mode' occurs at 1199 calories, or any magic number.0 -
It tells me that everytime I go under my goal of 1200 but that's only once or twice a week. Stavation mode doesn't kick in in a day or two, it takes time. I wouldn't worry about going under every so often, as long as it isn't every day you should be good.0

Whats funny is, that I often have NetCals under 1000 and MFP never tells me that i might go into starvation mode. My goal is 1000 cal a day, but then I have plus 500 cal from exercising, so I can eat 1500 cals. Now, if I eat 1300 cal, that gives me net 800 cal. But that seems to be OK by MFP.0
