Crossfit - just for athletes?

I keep hearing all this buzz about how great Crossfit is and I'm curious to know more about it. I tried googling and even went to our local crossfit website to read more about it, but all the people in the advertisements and testimonials look much smaller and fitter than me starting out.

I'm worried that I might be too overweight to do it...are there any Crossfit junkies or trainers out there that can shed some light? Is it more for people that are used to P90X and Insanity type workouts? I usually walk or bike at least 30 minutes a day about 3-4 days a week and I'm probably 60-70 lbs overweight.

Thanks!

Google CrossFit: Killing the fat man and start watching the series from day one. This is how I got into CrossFit, by seeing Gary do it. I can do ANYTHING I put my mind to, despite being considered morbidly obese :0) I've been doing it for 2 months now.

This is really helpful, thank you! I don't feel quite so discouraged :)
  • I just started it this week and I am still 100-130 lbs overweight. They will scale and modify the workout for you. I researched different places until I found one that had a coach I felt comfortable with. It is hard but worth it!!!
