anyone trying to lose weight while taking Seroquel?

I take Seroquel for bipolar disorder and it has been a life saver for me. No single drug has produced such positive results. However, I've gained 25 lbs. since starting Seroquel and I was still gaining when I decided to come here and try to get the situation under control. Following the program here was enough to stop me from gaining, but no loss. My psychiatrist gave me Topamax and I lost 6 pounds in 2 weeks, I was really excited, but it didn't last and I've put 2 of those pounds back on. I'm thinking I'll probably need a higher dose of the Topamax.
Funny thing though is that since I've started dieting I've had difficulty tolerating the Seroquel, I am tired all the time. I actually fall asleep at my desk at work 1-2 times every single day. It's almost as if the Seroquel insists on hanging on to those extra calories and would rather shut my body down than burn a little fat.
Anyone else struggling with weight loss while taking Seroquel? What's working/not working? Any experiences using the Topamax to offset the weight gain from the Seroquel?
I really hope I can get my weight under control - mental health should not have to come at the expense of physical health.

i gained some weight when i started seroquel, but i've been able to take it off, jsut very slowly. i only weigh myself once a month so i can see a difference. the other side effects i really feel. i have to sleep at least 10hrs a night or i'm jsut too tired during the day.
i also took topomax at one point and it helped me lose weight for awhile. i ended up going off it because it just wasnt doing anything for me. seroquel has been a godsend, but i do hate the side effects. i wish it didnt make me so sleepy.
keep at it, you should see results. it will take some time.0
