I have a very hard time eating my 1200 calories.... (it takes ALL kinds to be fat, so if you are going to be hateful for that.. dont even bother.. i dont care that you WISH you had my "problem". Its a problem for ME.. respect it or SFTU. This is a site for SUPPORT... i get enough crap for other stuff in my personal life.. i sure as shiz dont need it here!
That being said.... Im seeking foods that are high in calories, but still GOOD FOR ME.
I cannot eat any type of nut, and i really would not care if i never saw a green pepper.. but i can eat small amounts cooked.
I am here not just to lose weight, but to be HEALTHY.
Do not tell me to fill my calories with a cheeseburger from McDonalds..
Thanks! If you are in the same boat, please feel free to add me!

Avocado's are high in calories...but the good kind. I love them but i have to keep an eye on what it does to my daily limit. Just one banana can bulk up a day by 100+ calories too. Um...fruit juice. Pasta (unless you're watching the carbs). Cheese. Salad dressings, guacamole.
Failing that eat a big bowl of lard with a spoon.
I'm kidding.
Unless you're into that kind of thing. =/0 -
I also aim for 1200 calories and occasionally fall short (some days I hit it too easily
I add extra olive oil while cooking or on foods if I have the calories. I also don't do fat free anything (unless it is naturally that way) - low fat yogurt, 2% cottage cheese taste better to me and are a bit higher in calories. I don't know what bread you eat if you do eat bread, but avoid the light and eat the real thing if you want to add some calories.0 -

Thanks! i try to be very careful.. and im always scared i wont get enough to eat.. but then i fall like 400 calories short! Ill remember that butter and oil are okay in moderation! Sure would make things taste better.. lol. I dont guess a sandwich will be too horrible for me.. i think im scared to give in to alot of things.. like if i start slowly going back, ill lean more towards that, instead of healthier choices. this is truly going to be a journey, but its nice to know i can enjoy the walk along the way.0 -

Oh for heaven's sakes, lol.
In that case i pretty much agree with Gianna44. Just quit choosing the 'light' options with bread and cheese and stuff like that and eat the real deal.0 -
avocado
nuts (YUM!! enjoy some cashews ) easyyy way to add cals
nut butters
cheese
sweet potato (for a decent size)
cook with olive or coconut oil....one tbsp is 120 calories and packed with nutrients (if cooking HOT use coco oil, olive is good for cold like salads)
shouldnt be hard if you add these things...i have a hard time staying under 18000 -
Dark chocolate and red wine may be good choices. Dark Chocolate (70% or above) has antioxidants and red wine is good for the heart.0

Adding coconut oil to your cooking will add all the calories you want and rev up your metabolism ... The calories in coconut oil are extremely unlikely to be converted to fat. Win win.0

which sucks, because it smells SOOOOOO good!!!0 -
Cheese and Milk. I was low on my calories today so I just had some milk to make up for it.0

nuts, cheese, full fat products, a bowl of rice is like 300+ calories, 2 tbsp peanut butter on whole wheat toast is like 300+ calories0

Have you tried dates? 5-6 dates are 120 calories
They can be used in recipes with cocoa to make them really tasty. I know thats not alot. But you just said you didn't like one of my favorite go to deserts. Not sure if cocoa is on your ok list.0 -
Thanks for all the advice... but um.. I CANNOT HAVE NUTS.. lol.. got anything other than nuts?
Thanks for all the other ideas! I will put some into my diet, but as i said before.. im concerned if i start eating more starchy things.. i will end up with a plate full of mac & cheese for dinner... lol.0 -

If you buy the fat free or low fat versions of dairy then skip those! Whole milk is much better since it is less processed and contains the vitamins you need as well as being higher on calories. Skip anything fat free and low fat, your body needs healthy fats like evoo, real butter, some animal fat like on your meat is also good for you, legumes like beans, lentils and quinoa are healthy and usually high in calories.0

Bacon, dried fruit..0

I had a piece of salmon today that was 400 calories alone. Meat is relatively calorie dense. Dairy. Dried fruit. Beans/rice/wheat/oats but you say you aren't willing to eat starches.
Avoiding carbs entirely makes me feel like crap, and IMO eating real food is better for sustained health, but it's your choice. Do you plan to eat the way you eat now for the rest of your life?0 -
Make your own granola maybe? You can find all kinds of recipes. I put dried dates, prunes, cherries in mine. Yams are yummy and good in calories I believe. Split peas made into a soup is a tasty lunch or dinner. You can take a look at my diary. It is by far not perfect but it may give you ideas.0

Protein bars? some may have nuts but the kind I eat usually have about 200-350 calories a bar and have about 18-27 grams of protein. Sometimes they taste chalky, but honestly, I have not been eating sweets so they're sweet to me!0

I never said i WOULDNT eat carbs, but i WILL forever measure them. I dont feel well when i eat too many carbs. Yes, i DO plan on eating this way the rest of my life.. after all, i want to get healthy (as stated in the first post) Im not here to drop a quick 25 and leave. I DO have real food, matter of fact, i buy NOTHING special.. nothing low fat, nothing organic.. i eat in portion control.. again.. i have a hard time EATING, which is why i asked this question. Eating is HARD for me.. i have been ill for so long, and food made me sick, so i never bothered with it more than i had to to live.0 -
I use protein shakes to get the nutrition of the foods i dont eat. I use the Body by Vi, and i love it.. im just looking for some food ideas to complete my day. Thanks for all the info!0

Can you do eggs or oats? I eat that all the time for breakfast, 2 scrambled eggs, sometimes with cheese, and oatmeal and that usually puts me at like 300 cals right there.0

Avocados
Nuts
Full fat milk0 -
LOL at the amount of people who don't bother to read the original post or any of the responses.
SHE CANT EAT NUTS!!!! ARE YOU TRYING TO KILL THIS WOMAN!?
Seeing as you want to limit carbs, you are going to have to increase fat intake
extra virgin olive oil
butter
dairy
You will only need a very small amount of these to add significant calories
Salmon can also be very calorie dense if you get the high fat content stuff, as can sirloin steak and other fatty cuts of meat0 -
Have you tried quinoa? It's used like rice, it's pretty versatile, plain it reminds me of original oatmeal, but I just had a "chicken n rice" type dinner with it.
I also like to mix up a smoothy if I'm low on calories or don't really want to eat i usually add flax seed(freshly ground) n some milk or yogurt to which ever fruits I have in the freezer adds up pretty well n isn't as taxing as another meal.
I also added olive oil for better fat.
And if you're uneasy with carb-like me snacking on good fairly lean proteins is good n if you add a little olive oil to that then u have more healthy fat with out the cholesterol of fatty meat.0
