Questions:

1. When calculating time worked during a video do you:
A. count the entire running time of the video - say aerobics 45 mins
B. count only the active part of video for aerobics 35 mins, and 10 mins stretch

2. When doing weights, how should you feel when you are finished? I feel like I can't pick up my gym bag afterwards, but I'm not sore the next day (maybe one muscle area). I'm doing about 30 minutes. I don't rest accept to switch machines or maybe 10 seconds between reps.

Thanks,

Mary

    1) how ever long your heartrate is high, that's how long you should count. So you really need to check what your heartrate is during the rest periods, otherwise you are just making an edjucated guess.

    2) Depends, most people are sore when their body is building significant new muscle. If you are tired after to the point of exhaustion but not sore the next day, your probably at a good spot if your looking for muscle tone. If you looking to increase muscle mass, then you want more weight and less reps. You should still feel exhausted after, but also the next day you should be somewhat sore as well.

1), I would count the 35 minutes as aerobic and then add another count of 10 minutes for stretching. Sometimes I don't include the stretching, just a me thing I guess.

    2) When you leave the gym and you are all shaky and can't believe how heavy your gym bag got while you were working out then you are doing well! Sometimes I get in the car and just holding the steering wheel my arm shakes a bit so I know I had a good workout. The no pain no gain idea isn't necessarily the best, a little mild soreness the next day or two is ok but you need to be able to function. And when your gym bag starts to feel like a kleenex when you pick it up it's time to kick it up a notch and do some heavier weights!

    Good job!
