A few years ago I pulled this muscle that runs up the front of my thigh and I felt it in my lower right abdomen. I initially mistaked it for appendecitis, I had no idea that I pulled a muscle. Alas it was a muscle and the doctor said the name of it so many times. I cannot remember it for the life of me, but I'm sure if someone says it it will come back to me. I need to know, cuz I seem to have done it again and it hurts like a mutha $*&^#.

Just want to do some research to figure out what I did wrong and how to not do it again cuz I'm starting c25k in two weeks and I don't want anything to stop me.

So again I feel it in my lower right abdomen and it comes from the front of the thigh......

Name that muscle......

There are several :) is the muscle directly on the front only? Rectus femoris, gracilus, sartorius, vastus medialis/lateralis. Any of these ring a bell?

I think that is your hip flexor, aka Iliopsoas :)

Front of the thigh, top of the femur to the knee,,, that big rascal? Quadricep.
  • Uh Oh, maybe this won't be as easy as I thought! None of that sounds familiar. I'm pulling out my anatomy book.

I only feel it in my abdomen, but the doc said its from the front of the leg.

vastus medialis/lateralis sounds familiar, but I'm not sure thats it.

  • I thought we were coming up with a new name... dang!

Sounds like Rectus Femorus or Vasuts intermedius, but I don't think the vastus originates on the ASIS like the rectus does, so it's more likely the RF.

That's what I thought too. I like the name Lacey.
  • I give up. My head hurts and thats not a good addition to the muscle pain. Going to lay down with some heat and ice and call the doc in the am, see if they can look in my chart and tell me.

    Thanks for your help.
  • Could it be the Satorius, the Adductor longus or the vastus medialis? My best guess it the Satorius because of the attachment area of the muscle.
  • Its the Satorius! Thanks everybody!

BTW: It hurts like a B!t(h!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
