Can anyone tell me where/how to get my lean body mass checked? I live near Harrisburg, Pa. Also, what is a healthy ratio for lean body mass and body fat?

    Classification: (% fat)
    Essential Fat: 10-12%
    Athletes: 14-20%
    Fitness: 21-24%
    Acceptable: 25-31%
    Obese: 32%+

You can go to a nutrition store to pick up some body fat calipers and measure yourself. You can also get a bioimpedance machine (hand held devise) but they are not as accurate.

For a "quick and dirty", you can use the Navy Seal method.

All you need is a tape measure and this website.

Men measure neck and waist. Women measure neck, waist, and hips.

I like it because, let's face it, I care more about the circumference of my waist than I do the scale weight!

I use this link to determine my BF % : http://www.fat2fitradio.com/tools/
I use the Military Body Fat option.

is a popular choice with some of my friends.

It's usually 1 g of protein per lb of lean body mass and .35 g of fat per lb of lean body mass. The rest is carbs.
