Basic weights program to supplement cycling

Hi Guys,

I am 43 and just trying to get healthy and look a little better. I am cycling 5 times a week and staying within my daily MFP goal calorie limits, in order to lose 1 lb per week.

So far I have lost about 19lbs.

I am thinking of supplementing my cycling with a weights program at the gym so I can add a little muscle (and I stress 'little').

I wondered if there is a program which will help develop my chest, arms and legs that I can use. I was only thinking of doing weight exercises twice a week.

Is it worth it? Will it make a difference?
Does anyone know any good programs? I was thinking mainly things like chin-ups maybe the chest press. I am not really a fan of the free weights.

Thanks for reading.

Ian

Lifting is well worth it. You'll feel better, look better and it will make you a better bike rider. I suggest a book called "New Rules of Weight Lifting."
