Keep it up....or not?

Just have a random question:

I had a baby in Feb. and a surgery in May so I am just getting back to actually working out. I did 150 crunches on Monday and 100 on Tues. My stomach hurts so bad I can barely cough, it hurts to pick up my daughter too. Should I just keep going....no pain no gain or not do them again for a few days??? I know I am super out of shape and my stomach muscles were just stretched out from being pregnant, so I am not expecting it to not hurt, just wondering if I should just keep it up or not?

Thanks!

Question # 2: I carry more weight in my thighs than any where....whats the best workout to get rid of this??

Sorry, no such thing as spot reduction. To lose weight on your thighs requires reducing your overall % of body fat and you never know where it's going to come off first.

It's probably a good idea to take a day off between your crunch marathons, give your abs a chance to recover (it's actually during the rest day that they get stronger) . Have you considered planks rather than crunches?

This. Give your abs rest days inbetween, overtraining will get you nowhere. And planks are very effective. As far as fat loss the most effective route I've found is doing strength training and cardio.

^Nothing however is as effective as being sure you are maintaining your calorie deficit.

That amount of crunches is just plain unnessesary.

It was a mini challenge and didn't seem like that big of a deal until the next day. Totally not ready for it, I guess.

Thanks everyone for the advice. I do maintain a calorie deficit. I will try some planks and rest in between!! Thanks again.
