Hi all. I'm Sarah. 26 year old mom of a 3 and 4 year old. I am wanting to lose about 40 pounds. I am currently 171 pounds (5'7) and would like to get back down to about 130. After I had my 3 and 4 year old, I was still about 40 pounds heavier than I want to be. I started running 5 nights a week (1 mile each night) and kept that up for about 3-4 months, before quitting. I lost about 12 pounds during that time. I have since gained the 12 lbs. back. I don't know why I quit! I am now watching what I eat and gave up drinking pop, except diet every now and then. I am about to try to start back my running every night also! I just need some motivation to keep at it!! Anyone else from OK?

Hello and welcome Sara! You and I are alike  I am 5'8" and currently weigh 172.8 pounds (I have lost 16.2 pounds). I power walk 3 miles Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays during my lunch hour at the PT (physical trainining) track. I work for the Army as a Civilian so don't salute me I just "added" sitting biceps weights on Tuesdays at the post gym on 15 Sep 09 and I went to the gym yesterday during my lunch hour. I started my exercise regimen on 30 March 2009. I LOVE this site because I copied my desk blotter notes all the days I worked out and have logged everthing in! I was given steroid shots for my allergies many years ago and gained 45 pounds. Then I got pregnant in 2005 and the baby was born in 2006.
I weighed 189 pounds back in January 2009 and I HATED the pictures taken of me during our awards ceremony at work....I had a double chin! I realized I HAD to find my WILL POWER back and I have! I have given birth to 3 children and have always weighed 140 pounds (w/2nd child). So with a 3 year old I decided to start eating healthy again, maintain my weight for life, and to exercise. I weigh myself once a month (if you can believe that) since we women have PMS, bloating, water gain, cramps, etc., 2 (yes two) weeks before we mensturate; thus the reason why I don't get on the scale "daily" nor "weekly" (I allow my clothes to do the talking). But to each his own as women tend to do what they want to do and that's okay. But they get DISCOURAGED (by weighing "daily" or "weekly") when the scale goes up and down, down and up; esp during their menstural cycle. I edited to tell you that I lose 3-4 pounds every 15th of the month when I "weigh in". And my calorie intake is 1,250.
You can do it! You started to run a mile. Continue to do that. I get motivated from people at work when they see me before/during/or after my work out. They will say, "Your legs look slimmer!" or "There she goes!" or "You're VERY determined, you even power walk when it's drizzling outside!". I have had cars honk as they pass me at the PT track and they either wave or yell out, "Keep it up!". Get inspired! Do things to help get you motivated! I have my ticker as my wall paper here on my work computer and of course, I log in when I work out on my desk blotter which makes me feel good, too!
I am wearing my size 8 (I went FROM a size 14 to a size 8) heavy denim blue jean skirt, with black riding boots (back in 2008 my riding boots would be "tight" on my calves and would leave a "line mark" on my calves), and my red long sleeve top. Girl! I couldn't FIT into this jean skirt in 2006 after the baby was born! I'm glad I didn't get rid of my "old" clothes! Jesus, I am so proud of myself!
If you want to talk more or be a "buddy" you know how ot reach me. I will MOTIVATE you! I have before and after pictures that will have you gasping! Blessings!
PS: My wedding dress seen here? hehehehe! It has to be taken IN!!!!
