Lateral Foot Pain

About a week and a half ago I did a 22 mile run and ever since then I've been having some foot pain that comes and goes. The pain seems to be below and around my outside ankle (not above) and on the side and bottom edge of my foot, also on the outside. It will feel like it is getting better and then it will flare up again especially during or after a run. I had to walk the last half mile of a 3 mile run on Monday but last night during a 30 mile bike ride it didn't bother me at all...until afterward. If I forcefully pronate my foot I can induce pain near the 5th metatarsal (I'm guessing), it also hurts to push there. Anyone have any idea what this might be and at what point should I go see my doctor if it doesn't resolve itself?

you may want to check with your doc. You could have a hairline fracture.. It's just a teeny-tiny fracture, but can cause some real discomfort and pain.

I agree with rattykid, you should definitely see your doctor. It could be a fracture or peroneal tendonitis. I had the tendonitis and could barely walk for a while until I got it looked at and got a cortisone shot.

I've been reading up on the peroneal tendonitis and it sounds like that's what I might have. Thanks. Won't it just heal on it's own?
