Tiny upper body, fat stomach and thighs, someone help! :S

I'm just wondering if anyone else has this problem, and if they ever managed to do anything about it short of having a boob job?

So I've been really good with my weight loss (apart from the odd binge but who doesnt?) and I've managed to lose a few pounds since being on here, all good so far.

But my problem is that all my weight has gone from my chest and arms and nowhere else. I went from being an A-cup to now being nowhere near big enough for a AA :S Meanwhile my jeans size has only dropped from a size 14 to a 12, as you can probably imagine this kinda makes me a very funny shape. Factor in my stick-like arms and still kinda chunky thighs and I'm just odd looking :P

Did anyone else find this when they started with weight loss? Any kinda foods I can eat that would spread out the loss a little? I know I'm grasping at straws here, but it's really frustrating!

(I should mention that I have rheumatoid arthritis and so exercise is pretty much impossible for me most days, well I can walk, and I do so quite a lot, but this doesn't seem to help any).

Any help/advice would be greatly appreciated!

  • You must be me... Haha I don't know what it is. I can feel my ribs sticking out but my thighs and butt are huge, and look even bigger in comparison. Hopefully someone knows why our bodies are like this. Good luck!
  • Exactly! Honestly I can can see each one of my ribs, I can even see them through where my boobs used to be, but I can still grab inches and inches around my waist. :O I mean wtf?!

You can't spot reduce fat, your body and genetics will decide where it comes off first and how fast it comes from certain areas. Don't be discouraged, if you keep with it you will begin to lose in other areas faster as there is less and less fat to pull from other areas. Being a guy, I carry most of my weight around my belly/chest, I've seen significant improvements in my calfs, neck, shoulders and arms, but not as much in my chest and belly. However the more I lose, the more I notice improvements in those problem areas because I get the feeling that since I have less to lose other places, there is less of a choice of where it comes off.

Agree with what OP said about genetics. I'm shaped like a ruler and the weight fell off everywhere BUT my waist which I where I wanted it to come off from. That being said, I just kept at it, eating at a deficit while lifting weights and yes, eventually my waist reduced in size.

Don't get discouraged and just keep going! My body does the same thing. But if I keep going eventually I start to loose more in my hips/thighs. And remember too, that most women have more fat in the hip/thigh area, therefore it takes a bit longer to SEE results. Judge on how your pants are fitting, and keep going, keep going. :)

Some things in life just aren't fair, and sometimes our genes suck and there's not much you can do about it.

The best you can do, as other people have said is keep at a deficit, and start doing weights. Work your legs and your upper body and eat some protein. That's really all you can do, I'd think.

I'm in the same boat you're in GF....a total pear shape ....tiny on top and big butt, hips and thighs. We just gotta keep at it....it's gotta come off eventually, right?...
