Women Lifting Heavy

Not sure female PTs are much better ... Yesterday I asked one of them if the gym had more plates to load up as I was doing deadlifts (nrol4w! I'm just a beginner lol) and she said that was all they had and "It's not heavy enough??" I mentally did the sums, and all the weights + super duper light bar that is like 1 pound was *less than* an empty olympic barbell (men's or women's) ... so I said "Err no?" and she looked at me like I was a freak
I watched her train 2 people while I was going through my routine - and they were doing the usual light weight low rep thing that so many women are into.
Hm, is it obvious that sometimes I hate myself not doing proper research before jumping into a membership with this sucky gym? I'm tied down to them for a year now0
