Advice on Trave to Atlanta

Is anyone from Atlanta? I am taking hubby there for a surprise trip at the end of August and would love some tips on where the great shopping and eating is!!! I booked us into The Four Seasons downtown, is there a lot we can walk/do/see from that location

I live in georgia...my advice is dont go to georgia
  • IMO there are better places to see in Georgia like maybe Savannah. I live outside of ATL and I really don't see it as a great tourist destination. There is the aquarium, coke center, Centennial Park, Fox, Stone mountain, Atlantic Station, Braves and Lenox but these places just make me yawn. There are some good restaurants scattered around and a few clubs. Don't expect NYC or Paris.

I get there often to visit family. I was just there in June for a wedding. If you've never been...do the Aquarium but go early in the morning....it is impressive. You could visit the Coke Museum if you are a Coke fan. Underground Atlanta is another interesting spot. For history buffs the Atlanta Cyclorama is a good Civil War experience. The Jimmy Carter Presidential Library is also a nice place to visit. I depend on TripAdvisor.com for my travels. Go there for advice....throw out the best and worst review...and you'll have a good idea of the good and bad. If you are a AAA member you can get discounts at various places. The Atlanta Marta system is a great public transportation system. Have fun and stay cool!
