Does anyone have personal experience of consuming these?
Also, any actual data?
i.e.
you've seen improvements or degradation in "anything"?
going to the loo, exercise, mental alertness etc...

This bit from wikipedia put me off LOL
"Choking:
Taking this product without adequate fluid may cause it to swell and block your throat or esophagus and may cause choking. Do not take this product if you have difficulty in swallowing. If you experience chest pain, vomiting, or difficulty in swallowing or breathing after taking this product, seek immediate medical attention;"0 -
Yeah I eat them on and off and have been for 15 years. They can help in bulking up your insides - but I'm concerned that eating them every day may promote dependancy so I have skipped them for 2 weeks
I'm able to just dump a tablespoon in a glass of water and drink it followed by another glass of water. But its like drinking sawdust. Some people need to make it more palatable, like mixing well with orange juice.
The warning about choking should be noted - but I can control my gag reflex. And avoid inhaling the dust.0 -
I use it all the time. Never had a problem. I add it to smoothies, and also just drink with water. Be careful of the regular store brands and Metamucil because they add sugar to make it taste sweet. (code name, sucrose or sucralose for Splenda). The sugar content is actually higher than the fiber content in these, sadly.
I buy mine at The Vitamin shoppe to skip the sugar.

thanks folks, that's a great help! I miss my steel cut porridge oats and wonder what "ahem" cleansing agents can be naturally eaten and a friend recommended these0

RE: choking. It is meant to be mixed with water or into other goods. Do not do a "cinnamon challenge" for gosh sakes.0

It's just the un-digestable fiber in Metamucil and such. It's harmless. Mix it with enough water because it turns into a gel-like stuff.0

My husband and I have been using it daily in our breakfast smoothies. Other than being fairly high carb, no problems!0

My husband and I have used Psyllium Husks in the past when we do our detox, when we cleansed.0

There are lots of low carb hot breakfast cereal replacement formulas out there. Most with flax meal and almond meal in them. They will do an even better job of getting you going than oatmeal.0 -
Consider chia seed too, it has omega 3's fiber and protein, tiny on carbs, keeps you full too, if hunger is an issue for you. drink lots of water with it though because it absorbs alot of water.0
