Quick question, just started working out after like 2-3 years, so im starting really low weight and learning my forms all correctly.

I start off by doing a 15 minute warmup on the treadmill, 3.0mph and 6 incline or so.
Then I go to the machines, since im doing so low weight, im talking like 40-80lbs here, do i need to do warmup sets or will my walks on the treadmill suffice?

I than end my sessions with a 20 min treadmill walk at 3.0-3.5 and 6 incline.

Thanks.

Since you are going light, then I would say that you don't really need to do warm up sets until your weights start to get a bit heavier.

It's a good habit to get into, but depending on just how light the machines are your 'warm-up' set might just be another set at your given working weight. Consider the rowing machine for warmups as well.

I don't understand cardio warmup for weights.
Warm up with lighter weights until yo uget to your workset.

Cardio/calisthenic warm ups get the blood flowing and warm up the muscles generally.
I agree with lighter weights to your work set as well.

Before lifting I usually jog in place, jumping jacks, heismans, burpees, air squats, etc. For a few minutes. Then work up with lighter weights. Works for me.

I would do at least one warm up set. If you're normally doing 40-80, do 20-40 for 8-12 reps.

    I do:

5 mins elliptical to get the blood moving before I start at all
Then for every exercise I do, I do one set at approximately half weight.
If it's higher weight I might do something like:
    1) Just the bar (45lbs)
    2) 135lbs
    3) 225lbs working sets

People doing really large weights will do many "warmup" sets to work up to their working sets.

Ok, I'll do some cardio like I have been, then do some warmups with half my working weight and maybe a bit less, thanks all.

Or you could do bodyweight warm-ups.
