Has anyone had anterior fusion surgery?

My husband is having an anterior fusion at L5/S1 on August 6th. I know how critical getting exercise can be to his recovery so I want to arm myself with as much information from actual post-op people as i can.

For those of you who had fusion, how long after surgery were you cleared for work?

How long after surgery were you cleared to start walking as a form of exercising?

Is bike riding a good form of exercise for fusion patients?

What advice do you wish you had prior to having surgery?
