Body Fat %?

Options
Does anyone measure this and keep track? If so, how? Do you use a calipre, or does your scale calculate it for you?

I feel this would be a more accurate way of tracking progress since we could be gaining weight in muscle as we lose weight in fat. :glasses: Opinions? Advice? Thanks in advance!! :flowerforyou:

I use a tape measure and this website: http://www.linear-software.com/online.html

Scroll down to the women's calculator and use the tape measure method.

On this page: http://www.linear-software.com/femalesites.html at the bottom it shows you where to measure.

    thanks, that looks interesting!
My body weight scale gives me my body fat %, it uses a method called impedence where a little electric current is sent through your body. Electricity travels at different speeds through different types of body tissue (fat, muscle) and calculates your body fat %. I've heard it's not as accurate as other methods like calipers.

I have calipers. I am working on getting my Personal Training certification and went this weekend to a Personal Training workshop/ testing and part of it was using the calipers to measure body fat. There are different places to test on men and women. Women's caliper test is taken half way down the right arm on the tricep, near the iliac crest (hip), and then mid-thigh. You take 3 measurements and then average and then there is a chart to check to see where you fall in line (also goes by age).
