Best food to buy

Tomorrow I'm going to be going out to shop for some healthy food for me to eat for the week. I'm only planning to spend £10 as I live at home with my parents, meaning that I'll probably have the food that they have for dinner. However, as they're often eating unhealthy things for lunch and breakfast, I need to stock up on some healthy food.
Therefore I was wondering which would be the best things to buy with the money that I have. e.g. fruits, vegetables. What would you consider to be key essentials for your lunches and breakfasts?

I'd probably get a head of lettuce, a few cans of beans and vegetables, a tub of greek yogurt, a bag of baby carrots, a few zucchinis, a big bag of apples, some grapes, and a big tub of oats.

I live in the US so i dont know your prices, those are usually my staple items that are really cheap.

Thanks for your comment  I was just wondering what you do with the zucchinis? Also, could I replace Greek yoghurt for plain yoghurt as I'm not to keen on the taste? Or is there something about Greek yoghurt that makes it great for weight loss or something

I dont really like raw zucchinis but i do like to stir fry them with low sodium soy sauce. Greek yogurt is better because it has more protein and less carbs but regular yogurt often has more calcium and is usually less expensive. I prefer Greek yogurt as long as i add some sort of natural sweetener such as stevia, fresh fruit, or honey. Regardless, both are good choices in moderation and taking into calories into account
    Good luck!

canned tuna black beans, red and yellow peppers red onions lime juice cumin spice. i have a great tasty recipe for black bean and tuna salad if youre interested. Head of lettuce, nuts, lots of fruit, veggies are going to be your best best friend, frozen chicken breasts, i make chicken on the grill 4x a week and snack on that. GO LEAN crunch cereal has great protien, but i only eat that twice a week in the morning. Egg whites or eggs then seperate the whites from the yolk before cooking. I aso eat lots of fish, especially salmon but that will be high in fat so i limit salmon once a week. but tilapia has nothing for fat but GREAT protien. hope this helps.

If your budget is that small, get to know beans, especially dry beans for lower cost. And check out the variety of frozen vegetables that you can buy.

The benefit of Greek yogurt is more protein within fewer calories. You can get the same level of protein with cottage cheese, which is not as bitter as Greek yogurt.
