Eat more to weigh less questions

So I've seen several post about eating more to weigh less. I just figured out what my TDEE is and if I was to eat 20% less I would need to eat 2154 calories a day. This just seems like an outrageously high amount of food. Just wondering what everyone thinks of the concept of eating more to weigh less. I think I may give this a shot.
Thanks
Thanks

If you followed that way of calorie counting you WOULD NOT eat back your exercise calories.
This process does provide results for a lot of people. Don't jump off the bandwagon too fast though as you may experience weight gain in the first week or two while your body gets used to the increase of calories.0 -
Thanks Now or Never. Should I gradually up my calories to that amount or just up them all at once?0

Take a look at the stickies in the EM2WL group and even check out the videos too!! This group teaches you how to eat the correct amount of food and still lose weight or maintain the weight that you have worked so hard to lose....Just take a look and see what you think...

Best of luck to you no matter what you decide to do!!0 -
Right-you would not eat exercise calories back.
I have my calorie goal set currently to my BMR. It's 1470 (which, my actual BMR is slightly lower according to the site I used, but I rounded). I then eat back 95-100% of my exercise calories (or go over by a little, as I did today)...
It balances out to be about what you're "scheduled" to eat. I'm 5'3'' and 156. I consume anywhere from 1500 ish to 2200 ish depending on my exercise for the day.
***also, I noticed that when I upped, I stayed the same a bit, then lost, then stayed the same a couple weeks, then lost. Don't get discouraged. Your body will catch up.0 -
Whatever you are more comfortable with! There is an eat more to weigh less group on here (not sure if you knew).
I plan on upping mine and when I do I will be doing it slowly.0 -
Not all calories are created equal. A 200 calorie brownie will affect your insulin levels and fuel (or lack there of) differently then 10 almonds and 1/2 berries. Both are about 200 Calories. You need to be eating every 2-3 hours. Stay below your calorie goal ( never below 1200) but make your calories count. Here are some general guidelines:
1) Raw is best (in ref to fruit and veggies)]
2) If you are hungry eat veggies, if you have used your calories or are close
3) drink at least 8 glasses of water
4) have a source of protein and vegetables with every meal/snack if possible
5) do not drink soda, including diet soda
6) store bought juice is full of sugar do not drink it
7) do not eat white (rice, bread or anything of the nature)
8) When craving sweets use sugar free gum or berries.
By doing the above and eating all day long your body believes it must burn more, since you are feeding it so much. If you starve it, it will hold on to the fats and eat your muscle. I hope this helps.0 -
Thanks everyone. I have just joined the EMTWL group, I think I will start this on Monday. I've been low carb for a few weeks and lost 11 lbs but I miss my good carbs.0

I think it is something you have to choose to follow. I see many folks type til their fingers drop off trying to get people to eat enough because we are brainwashed with the idea that the only way to lose fat is to stop eating. I say try it the way you see fit and you decide. Women are losing weight every day here, reaching their goal weights. And men, sorry, didn't mean to leave you guys out. But are they healthy? Do they have muscle, maybe you don't want any muscle, that's ok too, it's all about choices.
I don't know what your stats are but I am losing weight following the mfp figures, no tdee for now. because I like tracking my exercise each day. I change around a lot so just feel there is more accuracy logging my exercise. But again, what I burn off, I make sure to put back in my body through good nutritious foods to fuel the rebuilding and repair of muscles that will burn off the fat in turn. Don't misunderstand, I have my goof off days and if I feel like a pizza I'm going to eat some, or cake, or cookies or pie or anything I want:)
Best of luck to you and don't hesitate to just try some things on for size so to speak, lots of excellent, well documented info as well as some great looking success stories!
