P90X Nutrition Plan?

How important is it to fallow the nutrition plan and do you really think the suggested supplements/recovery drinks are important? I failed at around 30 days, last year and I want to try again. This time I want to have everything planned in advance.

Let me know what you guys think in regards to NutritionX and success. Thanks =)

  • Its low carb based on protein and non starchy vegetables. My friend lost 21 pounds in a month doing it religiously but he followed it to the letter and was motivated.

    60 minutes/day-p90x

only lean meat and non starchy vegetables

So, you believe it is pretty important? Was your friend eating the recovery drinks and bars and shakes? 21 pounds is great! I think I'm going to invest in a HRM so I can better calculate the amount of calories I need to consume to support the workouts.

I am hoping I can do that. Ha, a lot of people suggested apple juice instead of a recovery drink and ordinary protein powder in place of the protein shakes. The bars.. .hmm.. maybe I can skip them.
  • Dont have apple juice. In fact dont have juice of any kind. Only consume protein and non starchy vegetables. Juice is one of the worst things you can have when dieting. its healthy but has lots of sugar which you do not want at all.

I tend to agree with you about the juice, but a lot of people recommend something very sugar oriented post workout. The P90X program comes with a nutrition guide, I'm just wondering how important it is to fallow it to a T.

I followed the macros in the first two phases, and stayed at 40/20/20 for the last. I ate fewer calories (about 2000) than they recommended (2400). I lost 24lbs. and 6 pants sizes on the program. It's a good nutritional plan to follow.

I have the program too, but was unable to understand the diet. Can anyone else give a good description of what we need to follow?
