I'll join you. I've read tons of stuff and believe that building muscle and eating well is the way to go. Also am on board with the HIIT to kick up the metabolism, but for only 30 mins on non weight lifting days.

Drop me an email, let's strategize.
  • What is the diet??

Front and center on the plan are the 12 power foods featured in the menu plans. These foods are highlighted because they are nutrient-rich, contain protein, calcium, and healthy fats. Portion sizes are prescribed to keep calories in check, even for power foods.

Within the 12 power foods, there are lots of options to add variety and satisfy a wide range of palates.

The New Abs Diet 12 Power Foods – (acronym spells abs diet power)

    1. Almonds and Other Nuts eaten with skins intact.

    2. Beans and Other Legumes

    3. Spinach and Other Green Vegetables

    4. Dairy: Fat-free or low-fat milk, yogurt, cheese, cottage cheese

    5. Instant Oatmeal: Unsweetened, unflavored

    6. Eggs

    7. Turkey and other lean meats. Lean steak, chicken, fish

    8. Peanut Butter – All-natural, sugar-free.

    9. Olive Oil

    10. Whole-Grain Breads and Cereals

    11. Extra- Protein powder(Whey)

    12. Raspberries and Other Berries

Eat six mini meals a day with an emphasis on protein, prescribed at every meal to keep you feeling satisfied and to repair muscles. Meals are centered on power foods showcased in three weeks of diet plans and recipes. Calories range from 1400-1600 daily.

Drink plenty of water, limit alcohol to 2-3 drinks per week, and once weekly you can splurge on a cheat meal and eat anything you like.

I'm buying whey powder and starting tomorrow. please friend me! I could use the support! I already circuit train and jog 4 days a week. I also already eat a lot of the power foods listed. I'm a vegatarian and was disappointed by the dinner recipes in the book since they all contained meat but I am old enough (32y) and been veg long enough to know how to substitute.

I should seriously write a diet book. All they have done is list out a bunch of healthy foods in a certain order to make a catchy marketing slogan!

As you have described it there doesn't seem to be a lot wrong with this diet. Eating a diet primarily filled with wholesome foods at a moderate caloric deficit will make you lose weight.

Just don't freak out if you want to have other things outside of this list - this is not some kind of magical formula. Also, the idea of having to have them spread over 6 small meals is mot achievable for many people, so as long as you are eating the right things, feel free to have your intake in any number of meals that suits you.

I didn't read the book thoroughly but didn't read anything about increased energy. A lot of diets claim to give you increased energy but with this one I actually feel it. The only thing I can attribute it to is the increased protein intake. I have always struggled to get the correct amounts but am doing better now. I almost walked out of my house this morning without making coffee because I was so amped up. It's a hot day in SoCal and all the moms in my outdoor stroller strides class were super sluggish but I was super wired. Anyone else feel energetic from this diet?

I just started the Abs Diet this week. We'll see how it goes. I know that if I eat 6 meals a day and eat clean and keep my calories down, I do well. It sounds like a good diet. I'm just hoping that the foods it suggests really does break down the belly fat. My belly is really where I carry most of my weight. I'll check back here to see how you are doing with it.
