So, kinda spin off from another thread, should you exercise the same day you give blood? I guess yoga and pilates would be ok, but would walking and running?

You're supposed to avoid strenuous exercise for 24 hours, I think.
  • After giving blood I was told not to exercise and to drink plenty of fluids that day. That means I think that even yoga is out...sorry.
  • You actually burn about 650 cals from your body working overtime to replace the blood that was drawn. So sit back, eat your cookie and enjoy the easiest "exercise" you'll ever have to do!

If I wasn't always at a level where I need a transfusion:sad: I might consider giving blood for this reason alone.

  • Definatley do not exercize for 24 hours. Your body needs to replace the lost blood.
Also, giving blood is a wonderful thing, you could potentially save up to 3 lives each time you give. So relax and give yourself a pat on the back, someone out there is extremely greatful for what you are doing.
