How do you store red potatoes? Squash? Carrots?

We are in new england. We have central air which is always on but my root veggies tend to mold quickly. Help!

I have sweet potatoes and all my root veg, but I keep them in a cupboard. I do not put them in a fridge. I would prefer to have a root cellar as that would keep them longer and have them fresher. My uncle used to have a spot in the basement that he would store them in a bin.

I live in Los Angeles and we really don't have the same issues with humidity, except for a couple of weeks out of the year (like now). I always store my potatoes in a dark place away from heat and all my other veggies are stored in veggie bin of my refrigerator.

also, buying less might help so you don't waste money!
onions and potatoes don't go in the fridge but everything else does.

    good luck.

I live in New England as well. We keep our potatoes with our onions in a pantry closet, it's dry and stays fairly cool, and most of our other veggies go in the refrigerator

I am in Mississippi and we definitely have humidity issues here. I purchased a three drawer (three level?) antique wire storage bin specifically for root veggies and onions. It isn't very pretty but it works great!
