Need support!!

My name is Michelle. I'm 25 years old & a mother of a 15 month old son. I currently am a stay at home mom and student. I feel like I need to get my health back on track. I gained over 75 lbs with my pregnancy. I went from weighing around 145 to 220. I currently weigh 185 and have been this weight since the day I had my son. At the beginning, I had a lot of motivation to lose weight so I tried all kinds of things. I would exercise for a week or so & then stop because I wasn't getting immediate results.

My aha moment is when I went to the doctor for a routine checkup & the whole time he talked about how I was overweight and needed to change it or in 5 years, when I turned 30, I would have an extremely difficult time to lose weight. Although I thought this was harsh, it really sunk in.

I added myfitnesspal to my android phone today and started tracking my results. I was glad to find there was a community of others like me, who wanted to fight obesity along with me. I sometimes talk about weight loss with my friends, but I don't believe they completely understand. I'm ready for a new beginning....& I would love the support along the way : )

    Hello! Welcome to MFP!

MFP is a really great resource to keep you focused and connect you with a wealth of fitness resources and like minded folks.

    1. Log your foods every day - don't skip days, or parts of your day. log everything!
    2. Analyze each day - see where it went good and where it went bad - too much fat? maybe too many carbs? over the calorie limit? Identify and plan how to correct it for tomorrow.
    3. Reach out to the community with questions or advice needs.
    4. Build a network of friends here!
    5. Lastly, do not believe everything you read here. There is a lot of great advice, but also some misleading and hype type advice. Part of getting fit is educating yourself in aspects of health and fitness. Make sure any questionable advice is looked at with a scientific eye and look for facts, evidence, and most importantly real world proof.
    6. You are more than a number. Sometimes the scale may not say what you hoped - thats fine. weight loss is not a straight line declination. Its a bumpy line that drops over time. Don't let single day numbers get your focus away from term based results.
    7. Vary your exercises. Your body forms memories and can slow down how it burns fat and builds muscles. Keep it confused! Hit it hard with cardio styles. Build lean muscle to burn even more fat.
    8. and above all - take your photo now! You will want to look back and have a starting BEFORE picture to proudly display along with your series of PRESENT or CURRENT photos during your transformation and continued lifestyle of fitness.

I welcome you, and anyone else out there to add me as a friend. I have made fitness and health my passion and love the idea of folks joining me in my new lifestyle of being fit, healthy, and most importantly - HAPPY!.

I'm here to support and motivate!!! I find my own success comes easier when I help and fuel other folks success.

and remember - most folks care more about the quality of fuel they put in their lawn mowers than the fuel they put in their bodies. Don't be one of those people. Whole foods. Natural foods. Intelligent choices.

    Fit for life,

welcome to MFP, (or at least on your phone). losing weight is a life style and a mathron not a sprint, so make sure you log in everything you are eating and dont get to mad if you go over, tomorrow is another day, take one meal at a time, and one day at a time, and your right if you dont do it now it will get harder in 5 years and who knows how much you will gain in that time. if you go out to the bar dont feel guilty as you have some fun and then the next day get focus. also make sure you set time to exercise, at first it will be hard making excuses that you have a toddler that you cant find time, but you are up around 15 hours a day and you need to find time to exercise even a walk around your neighboorhood. you can lose the weight but it takes will power and decation and dont give up. You can do it, good luck and hope to hear your success story in the future.

It is hard for people in our lives to always understand how weight affects us. I have been trying to diet off and on for years and never got much results. I weighed 395 pounds when I graduated high school and growing up with an older brother who enjoyed tormenting me was the hardest part.Friends and family I think want to offer support sometimes, but then they realize trying to tiptoe that fine line between being insensitive about weight isn't that easy so they would rather just avoid it. I have tried all kinds of ways to lose weight without success. In March I was down to 320 pounds. I have just been changing my eating habits and wasn't really too concerned about the rest. I never realized i had lost as much weight as I have until I was standing next to my older sister a few months ago. I have always been the "FAT" sister. Growing up I was the biggest of my four siblings and everybody knew it including me. Standing next to my sister it felt good to no longer be the biggest out of four kids. I know that's probably bad to say but I'm honest. If you ever need some encouraging words feel free to add me I'd love to talk. I must have the same doctor because he told me the same thing when I was 24. The dirty thirty is looming and I'm trying my best.
